What is the best way to remove waterproof mascara without damaging my lashes?

Mascara can add so much definition and loads of impact in just one coat, but mascara that’s smudged all over the place and halfway down your face is not a good look for anybody. Waterproof mascara comes in particularly handy for this, but it can often be difficult to remove…

Use a Regular Mascara

Applying a regular coat of mascara first and then following up with a coat of waterproof mascara is one of my favourite tips. Instead of gripping to your lashes the waterproof mascara grips to the regular mascara which means your mascara will be waterproof, but when you come to remove it you won’t have to rip out half your lashes.

Try a Tubular Mascara

How to Remove Waterproof Mascara Without Damaging LashesTubular (or tubing) mascaras are water resistant, smudge proof mascaras that only require water to remove. Sounds crazy I know. These grip to your lashes and form tiny little “tubes” around your lashes, to remove your just take some water on your thumb and index finger and “slide” them over your lashes and the mascara comes completely off in tiny little tubes. I like the “Blinc” range of mascaras, they’re some of the better tubing ones I’ve come across.

Use Oil

When it comes to beauty many people are scared of oils, but I personally can’t get enough of oils in my beauty routine, I love them for cleansing, moisturising and of course removing stubborn eye makeup. Just massage a little olive oil or gentle cleansing oil over your lashes to help break through the mascara, finish off by removing it with warm water and if necessary use a good makeup remover after to remove any excess eye makeup (I like Bioderma) Bonus: oils like olive oil will help to nourish your lashes!
