If I were to rename this foundation it would be called “The Best Foundation For Dry Skin, Ever” This foundation is my favourite, yes you read me right my favourite and holy grail foundation, if I need my makeup to look great 99.9% of the time I’ll be wearing this; so I thought it was finally time I wrote a review.
Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Foundation
The packaging isn’t terrible but it isn’t amazing either. I prefer it over some other foundation bottles as I can see how much product I have left but it lacks one of the main features I like in my liquid foundations: a pump. You only need the smallest amount of this foundation so by using the “pouring” method you end up dispensing far, far, far too much product. If this came with a pump it would be so much better, the MAC pumps however do fit the Bobbi Brown bottles so it is a good idea to purchase one as in the long run it’ll save you more money as you use less products.
This foundation gives the perfect amount of coverage, I’d class it as medium but it is easily build-able. It hides redness, minor breakouts and discolouration well without being the slightest bit cakey. It looks (and feels) super natural on and blends into the skin with ease rather than sitting on-top of it and looking like a mask. If I want to I can skip concealer with this foundation because it gives enough coverage but I l still like to conceal my breakouts and dark circles.
One of my biggest pet-peeves when it comes to foundation is that they often cling to my dry spots no matter how good the moisturisier or primer is that I’m using and some have a habit of drying out my skin. This foundation does a superb job at providing hydration and doesn’t cling to a single dry spot or patch on my face.
The finish is anything but matte and dull. This stuff leaves your skin looking super luminous and healthy which is all the more reason that it is perfect for dry skin, those with oily and combination skin however will find this far too moisturising and luminous.
Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing Foundation Swatch in Porcelain.
The shade range is quite good, high end brands often tend to have a better shade range than most drugstore brands. I take Porcelain in Bobbi Brown foundations which is the second lightest shade, those with an extremely porcelain/transparent complexion would probably get away with the lightest shade, Albaster. Bobbi Brown is one of the few brands whose foundations are yellow based, some people might not be a fan of this but I like my foundations to be neutral or yellow based.
In terms of staying power, I feel it could be better. Due to the high moisturising properties of this foundation it won’t last through blood, sweat and tears. Compared to other foundations I have tried the staying power could be classed as poor but this can easily be fixed with a good primer.
If you have a sensitive nose you may get a little irritated by the strong fragrance of this foundation. It has an intense Lavender scent which although is quite nice it doesn’t really fade throughout the day so can be a little annoying after a while.
Overall this foundation is by far my favourite out of all the foundations I have tried, it is however a bit expensive so if you are on a budget my favourite foundation for dry skin is Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation.
