Although I’m a fan of gorgeous, beautiful natural makeup and stunning healthy skin you may be surprised to learn that I’m not a huge fan of skipping foundation when it comes to base makeup. Brows, eyes and lips done, but nothing on the face whatsoever? Love it. Blush, bronzer, contour and no foundation? I don’t love it. Although I will do my best to give you recommendations without my bias for no foundation style makeup it may not be easy.
Skip “foundation”, but don’t skip a “base”
When I say this what I mean is you can skip your regular full coverage foundation, but still put *something* on the skin. I find that concealer doesn’t sit well on bare skin (plus, you should be wearing sunscreen still!) so I prefer to apply a very light layer of a tinted primer, tinted moisturiser or BB Cream. Products I like for this include: BareMinerals Complexion Rescue (bonus it has a sun protection factor (spf) of 30) TheBalm BalmShelter Tinted Moisturiser (has SPF of 18)
Concealing
Now that I’ve chewed your ear off at the importance of using something on your skin beforehand, it is now time for me to tell you which concealers I recommend for your intended purpose. For starters I wouldn’t recommend anything that’s super full coverage as it just isn’t going to look good or sit right on the skin. Secondly, in most cases I would not recommend using the same concealer on blemishes as the one that you use for dark circles, concealers (like everything else in beauty) are designed to target different concerns, as a result a concealer designed for dark circles might be too creamy for pimples and vice versa.
Products
Products that I’d recommend: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (good, all-round concealer which can be used all over the face) Crop Natural Concealer Pencil (super easy to use, just draw it on where coverage is needed, it can be a touch dry so make sure you blend well) I also like concealers such as Dior Flash Luminizer Radiance Booster Pen and YSL Touche Eclat for dark circles when used on fresh skin with minimal coverage.
