When it comes to setting powders, not all are created equally. Although using the correct techniques to set your face and apply powder are essential to help your makeup look great, using a powder of high quality is just as important.
Too Faced Primed & Poreless Setting Powder
A tried, true and tested favourite, the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Loose Setting Powder has been an essential in my collection for many years. The formula is extremely finely milled which means it never looks cakey and is great for setting concealer under the eyes.
Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder
Although expensive, the Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder is in my opinion one of the best on the market. This powder features innovative packaging, it is a pressed powder, but you “grind” it each time to give yourself a fresh layer of loose powder. The hydrating formula doesn’t lie either, out of all the powders I have tried this powder is the best one for dry skin, it doesn’t contain shimmer yet it still makes skin look natural.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores HD Micro Finishing Powder
If you struggle with textured skin, large pores, fine lines or wrinkles this is the powder to try. Super soft and smooth this powder leaves the skin looking beautiful and smooth, airbrushed it almost “blurs” imperfections so they don’t look as pronounced.
Whilst this powder isn’t my holy grail, it is for a lot of people and out of the top tier drugstore brands (like Revlon, L’Oreal, and Maybelline) this is the best that your money can buy. It keeps the skin looking matte, and does a great job at setting makeup into place. If you’re not careful it can look a little dry and cakey so it is best reserved for oilier skin types.
Essence Mattifying Compact Powder
When it comes to drugstore powders and true affordability, look no farther than Essence cosmetics. Essence powders are some of the best on the market for their price, the powders are smooth and get the job done, they’re basic, no-frills, decent powders. The only issue, however, is that the brand regularly has deletions and re-additions so certain formulas can be hard to track down.
