Strobing may be a major makeup trend at the moment, but that doesn’t mean we all can’t benefit from a little contouring here and there to give the face a little more shape and definition. Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Duo
Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate is often considered a cult product, and it’s loved by many makeup artists worldwide. Whilst expensive there is no skimping on quality with this product, and you get very generous sizes of both the highlighter and the contouring cream. The contouring cream is shimmer free and quite neutral toned but it does tend to lean on the warmer side compared to my other favourite contouring products. [Full Review Here]
Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Sculpting Medium
A similar, and more budget friendly option to the Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Duo, this is what I would call my all-time favourite product for contouring. Although the packaging is tiny and slightly inconvenient you can’t deny the quality of this product. The contouring shade is creamy, had just enough pigment so it is blendable but also able to give a defined contour. The shade is cool-toned and shimmer free, the two most important things for me in contouring products. [Full Review Here]
Illamasqua Gel Sculpt Silhouette
This product is very rarely talked about, but it should be. Severely under-hyped this is the ultimate beginner product for contouring. If you struggle with makeup and or contouring, this product is perfect as it is very sheer, easily blendable and cool-toned. The gel formula means it never looks cakey or muddy on the skin. Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Crayon Trespassing Taupe
When I first got the Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Crayon in Trespassing Taupe my first thought was “that will be perfect for contouring” and I wasn’t wrong. Although technically designed to be used as an eyeshadow the cool-tone of this product makes it the perfect contour shade. As these sticks are designed to be long-wearing they do set quite quickly but if you can work with the blending issues you can get a really great long-wearing contour.
NYX have managed to create one of the best contouring products, rivalling many high-end brands with their blushes in “Taupe” This is my all-time favourite contouring powder and is one of the coolest toned contouring products you will find on the market. The coolness to the powder means it helps to provide a natural looking contour and mimic the natural shadows of the face.
