UNDER HYPED: Illamasqua Gel Sculpt Silhouette

Contouring can be tough enough as it is and although high pigment products can be great, they’re not necessarily suitable for everyday makeup or beginners (not everyone wants excessive contouring and overly chiseled cheekbones for a quick dash to the shops) that’s why I’m completely and utterly obsessed with the Illamasqua Gel Sculpt Stick in Silhouette. Whilst I still love products like the Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Duo and Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate this product creates the most beautiful, natural looking contour with very little effort. The formula is super unique and just as described, a gel. It’s lightweight and blends into the skin with absolute ease, no need for intense buffing with a brush, just a simple tap with your fingertips and the product is seamlessly blended into the skin. Most gel products I find don’t work well over the top of foundation, but this one does. The key to using this product is not to apply it directly to the skin (you will end up with foundation everywhere!) instead, apply a small amount to the back of your hand and then use your fingertips to apply and blend the product onto the areas you want to contour. Despite the fact that there is only one shade, this product is reasonably universal. Thanks to the gel formula it isn’t overly-pigmented meaning it can be easily blended on all skin-tones from fair to dark. The one shade (silhouette) is also cool toned, which is something extremely important to me in a contouring product as it means the shade actually replicates the natural shadows of the face making it look natural. All in all I’m a big fan of this product and whilst I’ll still use my other contouring products this is great for an everyday contour and beginners.
