A regular skincare routine is essential for keeping skin healthy, fresh and young but there’s also a few other things you should be doing to help keep skin wrinkle-free.

Get Facials
Regular facials are a great way
to relax and renew your skin, mind and body. If you’re uncomfortable
about visiting a salon you can do your own at home, start by double
cleansing your skin, exfoliating and then slathering on a face mask (you
can even use a clarifying version first and then finish with a
hydrating version) and then finish off with your regular skincare
routine.
Be Careful With Anti-Aging Products
Anti-aging
products are an obvious choice when you want to prevent wrinkles, but
don’t use them too early. Anti-aging products can often be too heavy on
younger skin causing cystic acne (which can later result in acne scars
aka post inflammation pigmentation) Many anti-aging products also
contain high doses of retinols such as AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and
BHA’s (Beta Hydroxy Acids) which essentially break down and renew the
top layer of the skin making it look younger. In small doses these
ingredients are perfectly safe for younger skin but a daily routine
using them can increase the skins sensitivity to the sun and damage its
water barrier.
Switch to Natural Skincare
Using
organic and natural products is one of the best things you can do for
your skin. Harsh ingredients like sulfates can strip the skin of its
natural oils causing it to become unbalanced and unhealthy. Petrol based
ingredients (such as mineral oil and petroleum jelly) can also increase
the skins photo-sensitivity making it more sensitive to the sun and
therefore more prone to premature aging. I recommend *Sukin Super
Greens Range and *Jurlique Skincare.
Think About Your Lifestyle
Your lifestyle and diet plays a huge part in the overall health of your skin and body. Eating a healthy, well maintained and balanced diet will help keep your skin (and body) healthy and happy. Foods with lots of refined sugar can break down the collagen in the skin causing it to age faster. Staying well hydrated and drink lots of water is also an important part of your skincare routine as it can help prevent dehydration in the skin. It’s also best to avoid smoking, alcohol and, drugs as these are known to have negative effects on the skin.
