If there was one thing that concealer became famous for it was its ability to cover dark circles; whether you had a late night, too much caffeine or you just have naturally dark under-eyes chances are you’ve reached for some concealer before. Sometimes it isn’t quite as easy as slapping patting on a little concealer and calling it a day; there are hundreds of concealer blunders from reverse raccoon eyes, terrible creasing or plain-old cakiness.
You will need: Face wipes (I love: *Wot Not Face Wipes), Brightening Eye Cream (I love: Origins Gin-Zing Eye Cream & Burt’s Bees Radiance Eye Cream), under-eye primer (I love: *Smashbox Photo-Finish Under-Eye Primer) a concealer brush (I love: Bobbi Brown Concealer Brush & Beau-Make Tapered Concealer Brush) Corrector or orange lipstick (I love: Bobbi Brown Corrector) Concealer (I love: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me & Essence Match 2 Cover Cream) Blending Brush (I love: Abbamart Fluffy Blending Brush) Translucent powder (I love Too Faced Primed & Poreless Powder & Essence All About Matt Powder)
Step 1: Start by cleansing under your eye area with a wipe, no one wants little sleep rocks floating around on their face!
Step 2: Using your ring finger gently pat on a good brightening eye cream. (Your ring finger is your best tool! It is the gentlest and helps to warm up products, making them absorb and blend easier!)
Step 3: Pat on an under-eye primer where needed. It seems like an unnecsseary step but its prevents concealer creasing and also gives you instant radiance!
Step 4: After applying your foundation (not before or all your hard work will just get rubbed off!) take a corrector onto a concealer brush and apply it under your eyes only where needed. Make sure you don’t forget the inner corner of the eyes where darkness is the most severe. .Correctors counteract blue tones but you can also mix a little orange lipstick in with concealer to achieve a similar effect.
Step 5: Gently blend in the concealer by using a gentle patting motion.
Step 6: If darkness is still extremely obvious re-apply corrector as needed, ensuring to blend well with gentle patting motions.
Step 7: Spot clean your concealer brush with a touch of rubbing alcohol on some paper towel or a face wipe.
Step 8: Using your concealer brush apply concealer where needed. (Your concealer should exactly match your skin-tone go any lighter and you are asking for reverse raccoon eyes!)
Step 9: Gently pat the concealer in to blend, re-layer if needed.
Step 10: Take a blending brush + translucent powder and using a wind-screen wiping motion apply it under your eyes. This will not only help to prevent concealer creasing but will also prevent eyeliner & mascara smudges; eye makeup is often attracted to creamy concealers!
Step 11: Say hello to bright eyes!
