WORTH THE HYPE: Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate
Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Review. Contouring can make your cheekbones appear more prominent, your nose appear slimmer and your jawline more refined. However, when contouring is done wrong it can look more like mud on your face or an orange foundation/spray tan. Finding a good contour product that looks natural on the skin can be a struggle and that’s why I’m head of heels in love for the Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Duo. (I have shade intensity one) The contouring shade has the perfect balance of warm and cool tones so it doesn’t look grey or orange, it’s completely matte with not even a hint of shimmer, which is the most important thing for me in a contouring product. In terms of formula the sculpting cream is beautifully creamy and blends into the skin with absolute ease, but doesn’t fade, cake or oxidize either. The only part of this product I found disappointing was the illuminator, it was a bit oily for my liking and was really just a transparent balm with a bit of shimmer, I prefer my illuminators to be more shimmery and pigmented. Overall I think this product is fantastic and it has become a major staple in my makeup bag for contouring, I DO think the price is very high for a makeup item but beggars can’t be choosers and if you have the money to spend on this baby, do it.
