Eyeliner is an amazing way to accentuate your eyes, make your lashes look thicker and add a finishing touch to your eye makeup, but it can be a little tricky to master… Whilst the good old saying “practice makes perfect” definitely applies to eyeliner there are a few tips & tricks you can use to fool people into thinking you apply perfect eyeliner every time.
The dotting:
Start off with a light brown eyeliner and gently sketch the shape of the eyeliner you want to achieve by drawing small little dots and go over it with your regular eyeliner.
The sticky tape:
If you’re creating winged liner try using some sticky tape to get a perfect line. Simply place the sticky tape on an angle at the outer corner of the eye and after applying your eyeliner gently remove the sticky tape.
The application:
Holding your product or brush on its side and start by drawing light feathering strokes on the center of the eyelid, work towards the inner corner and then the outer corner of the eye using small dashes and connect the dashes as you go along.
The cleanup:
If you’ve made any mistakes take a precision cotton tip soaked in a small amount of makeup remover to clean up any mistakes or wobbly lines.
The smudging:
If you are prone to messing up your eyeliner I would recommend either using a fine tipped pencil or gel eyeliner, this way you can easily smudge any mistakes with a cotton tip or smudging brush.
The tightlining:
For beginners and people who struggle with creating perfect liner I also recommend the tightlining technique, this is where you dot in between your lashes with an eyeliner to create a fuller lash effect.
