Everyone wants their makeup to last, but how far is going too far to keep your makeup on your face all day through heat, sweat and oil? Milk of Magnesia and Hairspray are major no-no’s, but since deodorant is designed for the skin could it be the answer to makeup prayers everywhere? Again, the answer is no.
Deodorant/antiperspirant is fantastic at keeping you from getting all smelly and sweaty under your arms, but that doesn’t mean it should be used on the face…
Deodorant contains many controversial ingredients (such as magnesium, parabens, etc) which have been doubted for their safety (some of which are photosensitive, which means when they come into contact with the sun they can cause skin damage) while deodorants are approved for use under the arms, they’re not approved for use on the face.
Deodorant is designed to help block sweat, so applying it to your face can clog the pores and cause acne, not to mention is can be extremely drying to the skin and can cause irritation, redness, itchiness and contact dermatitis.
If you want your makeup to last use a good makeup primer, a long wearing foundation and a face powder. If your skin is extremely oily no matter how many mattifying products you use, your skin could actually be dry and could benefit from the use of chemical free skincare and a cleansing oil.
