Picture this: you decide to waterline (or tightline) your upper lashline with a dark eyeliner in order to make your lashes look thicker, but whoops you blinked and now the eyeliner is mainly on your lower waterline makes you look like a hot mess and like a wannabe emo girl circa 2008.
Apply two coats
When applying eyeliner to your waterline, more often than not it will smudge, transfer and fade. Instead of applying just one coat and going on about your day I recommend applying two. Apply your first coat and let it set (if you can help it don’t blink) then apply another coat to lock it in, (and again let it set and try not blink) you obviously want to be using an eyeliner which sets very quickly and has great staying power on your waterline, in which case I recommend the Marc Jacobs Matte Highliner Gel Eye Crayons.
Clean it off
If you’ve got eyeliner that has transferred onto your lower waterline, quickly take a cotton tip with a small amount of gentle, non-oily makeup remover before it sets into place (I recommend micellar water) only do this on the lower waterline and try not to irritate the area too much.
Apply a Nude
If you’ve got transferring and have tried to remove it, there is a good chance your lower lashline has gone a little red. Try using a nude coloured eyeliner on your lower waterline to help neutralize any redness and hide any of the residue from the upper lash line.
If your main issue is smudging, I recommend that you set your concealer underneath your eyes (eyeliner and mascara is often attracted to creamy concealers)
